"Rev3 Triathlon is a much needed fresh breath of air when our sport is just beginning to turn stale.  They are listening to both the age-group and professional athletes, athletes' families, spectators, sponsors, and fans, and producing a race series that puts a smile on everyone's face.  I haven't been this excited since my first-ever triathlon!" ~ Kirk Nelson

About Kirk Nelson

Bio:

Kirk has always loved playing competitive team sports, but unfortunately missed out on swimming, biking, and running until age 20 when he joined Concordia College's Cross-Country team in 2000.  After just a few weeks of running he realized he had a God-given talent for endurance sports.  Following 2 1/2 years of grad school and training with the CU Triathlon Team, he finished his Masters thesis in Physical Chemistry and turned professional in the same month.  After some humbling results in his first pro season, 2006, Kirk realized he had to greatly improve his swim to be competitive.  One swim coach (Lance Panigutti) and hundreds of thousands of yards later, Kirk has improved his swim significantly.  Utilizing the strength of his bike/run combo, Kirk first started to earn good, consistent results beginning in 2008 and he has improved on those in 2009.  With a much improved swim and a bike/run combo getting better by the month, Kirk looks forward to seeing what the 2010 season brings!

Kirk was recently married to an amazingly loving and supportive wife, Charity!   "Carbon copies" of one another, the two enjoy doing everything together including training, hiking, Guitar Hero, hosting dinners, and Christian Ministry.

Additionally, Kirk and Charity together operate TriKirk Racing, a coaching business that offers individual coaching, puts on local camps, clinics, workshops, and talks around the country.
