FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How does it work?

Teams of 6, or 4 for Ultra Racers, cover 100-miles running the Virginia Capital Trail by tag-teaming the distance, relay style. Your team van drops off one runner at a time to take on one of the 18 legs of the race.  After dropping your runner, the van and remaining team members drive ahead to the next exchange zone to meet the runner, exchange the timing chip and cheer on the next runner.  Each team member runs 3-legs which range in distance from 3.5-mi to 8.5-mi. Depending on your team’s strategy, an individual runner could run as short as 10.5-miles,  as long as 24.5-miles or anything in between.

Where is the start/finish?

3021 Dock Street, Richmond, VA 23223, near the start of the Virginia Capital Trail, hosts the start/finish and post race party.

Where do we get a van?

You have a few options:

  1. Bring your own – provided you are within the size restrictions  (see the Rules) you are welcome to use your own van or SUV.
  2. Rental vans can be secured at any car rental facility of you choosing. Rev3 will be securing rental deals from local companies leading up to the event.

What time will my team start on race day?

Wave starts are determined by estimated finish time. During registration you will be asked for a finish time prediction and each team member will be asked for their most recent 10K time as well as their anticipated average pace per mile for the event.

Where can I find the most up to date information or last minute changes?

Please join our Capital Trail 100 Facebook Group for information, questions, and to talk trash with other teams.

What if I get injured or have a schedule conflict and can’t race?

Due to the nature of this event we are unable to offer deferral or transfers from this event to other Rev3 events. You can replace relay members until 9-15-17.

Are there bathrooms and stores along the route?

The entire race takes place on the Virginia Capital Trail but all of the exchange zone will have restrooms. Some of the exchange zones will also be located at convenience stores in case you need to pick something up quickly.

What if I can’t check-in the day before?

All athletes are strongly encouraged to check in the day before the race as Team Captains will NOT be permitted to pick up race packets for other relay members. There will be a small window of opportunity to pick up your packet on race morning but you will be much happier doing it the day before.

How can my family and friends track me?

Multiple timing sensors are located along the course. When an athlete crosses these sensor mats, their timing chip notifies our timing servers in real-time. At any time on race day, spectators may stop by the Timing Station (located in the Expo) to view athletes’ split times. Three monitors will be available for spectators to use.  Family, friends, and spectators may also visit http://timing.rev3tri.com/mobile for updates and results.

How can I view the results?

On-site, athletes and spectators may visit the Timing Station to view and print results.  After the event, off-site, or for family and friends spectating from home, please visit: http://timing.rev3tri.com/mobile

Do athletes have access to any post-race activities?

The finish line will be THE place to be! The second anniversary party for the opening of the Virginia Capital Trail will serve as the post race festivities. We will have food and beer for athletes. Vendors will be available for spectators to purchase food and beverages.

Where will medical tents be located?

Medical tents will be located in the Expo, near the start/finish line and in each of the three Major Exchange Zones. Please see any Rev3 staff member or volunteer for more information and look for the red flag labeled “Medical.”

How mandatory is the mandatory athlete briefing?

The athlete briefing will go over important course details, places of caution, race rules, last-minute race changes, etc.  If you have ANY questions regarding race day, race morning procedures, or the course, the athlete briefing is the perfect time to ask.

What’s the inclement weather policy?

Every effort has been made in advance to ensure a safe, seamless racing environment for athletes.  Our events take place rain or shine.   In the event of a severe natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, etc.), Rev3 will be in regular communication with all registered athletes.  No refunds will be offered for inclement weather.
