Athlete Guide 2015

REV3 Welcome

Revolution3 Welcome’s you to Knoxville, Tennessee the Volunteer State and our first race of the 2014 triathlon season.

Welcome triathletes, volunteers, spectators, family, and friends to Knoxville! You will notice the Sunsphere as the backdrop to the weekend’s festivities. The Sunsphere was a symbol of the 1982 World’s Fair which was one of the most successful in US history. Where the fair took place is our expo for the weekend, World’s Fair Park!

Knoxville is also home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers, you will see a lot of Orange around town considering our race and expo is within a couple of miles from campus.  You can visit the University of Tennessee campus or check out the many restaurants on “the strip” aka Cumberland Avenue.  You can also go to Market Square which is walking distance from the expo. This is a great spot for a pre or post race meal.  For information and directions to all of these restaurants visit us at the information tent in the Rev3 Expo and we will have maps for everyone.

Revolution3 is excited to be back to Knoxville for our fifth year with our Olympic and Half distance triathlon on Sunday May 18, 2014. This year Knoxville, Tennessee is the venue for our inaugural Revolution3 Series Championship! We will have over 50 professional athletes competing for a prize purse of $75,000 and a Series payout of $100,000. The Professionals aren’t the only ones taking home some cold hard cash. All Age Group athletes who qualified and are competing in the Championship will be award cash prizes if they finish top three in their age group! We are thrilled to be returning to Knoxville, Tennessee for another great year and some fast racing!

Thank you for choosing Rev3!

Our goal at Revolution3 is to maximize the enjoyment for everyone at the race! So weather you are competing, volunteering, or spectating we intend to make it a memorable experience.

There is much going on though out the World’s Fair Park and the Rev3 Outdoor and Family Expo. Be sure to read our enclosed Schedule of Events that includes practice swims, course overviews, expo details, kid’s activities, and ALL the important race day information.

On behalf of the Revolution3 Team enjoy Knoxville and thanks again for adding Revolution3 to your race calendar.

Happy and Safe Racing-

If you are a professional athlete you are required to submit proof of professional status at check-in.

**All Relays** You MUST check in as a team. You will not be allowed to check in for other members of your relay. This is to ensure the entire team fills out the correct waivers.

After you pick up your race packet  you will need to make your way to the TIMING TRAILER to pick up your timing chip, verify your athlete information, and get your picture taken for the finish line!

You must wear your timing chip at all times while you are racing. Fasten it to either ankle with the Velcro strap provided before the swim and leave it on until after you finish the run.

Volunteers will help you remove the chip at the finish line. If you do not start the race, you are responsible for returning the chip to timing. If you drop out or are pulled from the race at any time, turn in your chip to a race official. Failure to do so may disqualify you from participating in future REV3 events. If we do not get your chip after the race you will be charged $111.00 to replace your chip.
