Rev3 not only expects over 1,200 athletes, but also anticipates 3,000 additional family and friends to visit the area during race weekend.

“Revolution 3 brings world class quality to everything they do. I couldn’t be more excited that they’ve chosen Portland for the sixth race in their growing series. Participation in this USAT event should be a “must” for local athletes, but spectating will be just as compelling, as the deep professional field will burn up this challenging course.” Gary Wallesen, Athletes Lounge, Portland

The race will begin with athletes swimming the 1.2 mile required course in the Willamette River.  They will start the race from the Waterfront Park in downtown Portland.  The bike portion of the race will take athletes South of Portland through the cities of Lake Oswego and West Linn and Clackamas County. After completing the 56 mile bike portion, athletes will run 13.1 miles throughout the active and lively downtown area of Portland and witness gorgeous views of Portland’s skyline and Mt. Hood.

“As a destination for outdoor enthusiasts, we are thrilled the Revolution3 Triathlon is coming to Portland in 2011,” said Jeff Miller, president and CEO, Travel Portland.  “Competitors will swim, bike and run through Portland’s unique urban setting, while those traveling to support them will find tax-free shopping and culinary options to fill their stay.”
