Midnight launch of RAA 2012
- day 1
Today i’m running for…..
Sixteen people standing in a circle, some people I have know for years and some I have known for a couple of hours. Sixteen people ready to start on the journey of a lifetime, an epic adventure. Tonight I am running for Ryan Davis. Harmony Davis, who is Ryan’s wife, joined our group today. She is running the first couple of days with us until we hit Arizona where we will be joined by several of her friends and family. Harmony’s husband Ryan was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer in October. Harmony reached out to us when we first announced RAA and wanted to help support the cause, and now here she is, sitting in a van 10 miles in at 1:04am running with us. Through this run the Davis family has been introduced to the Ulman Cancer Fund. They have been a source of support for her and her family. Connecting the Davis family with Ulman Cancer Fund is why we are running.
Tonight Charlie mentioned that Rev3 is not just a company that puts on triathlons. Revolution3 is bigger than that. I feel that Revolution3 is legitimately a company that cares, not only do we want to provide a great atmosphere and race for our athletes all over the country but during our off season we are going to Run Across America to support families, friends, grandparents, brother, and sisters who are struggling with something bigger. We are going to do something epic to support Ulman Cancer Fund, a company that changes lives everyday.
We are 10 miles in, it is technically 4:12am back at home and I have never been more awake, more excited, and more proud to be a part of something bigger than myself.
3,070 miles to go, let’s do this! :)
