In the month where freedom remains on the forefront of American’s minds, Rev3 received a
commendable request by one of our country’s most heroic citizens. CPT Jessica Johnson,
Medical Corps, United States Army, emailed us and requested something we need to share.
In a photo contest, the Rev3 race staff selected Jessica’s photo to be part of the “finish line
photo contest” for a chance to win a free entry for next year’s race. Jessica didn’t even know
she was entered until a week ago, but she embraced the contest full stop.
Jessica requested support from friends and suggested the free entry be given instead to a
service member, veteran, or member of Team RWB who would otherwise be unable to race.
Via the power of social media, “The response was enormously greater than I could have
imagined, garnering nearly 400 ‘likes’ in four days,” she says. We all appreciate the mighty acts
of our military and with a mission like this, it’s pretty easy to see why Jessica’s campaign went
viral.
“The photo was likely chosen for what it represents: Team RWB carrying the colors with pride
alongside those who support our nation in all forms. It wasn’t about me. This contest wasn’t
mine to win,” she says. “I have been fortunate beyond reason to be surrounded by incredible
people who make these things happen, making it look easy and never seeking recognition or
reward. They have welcomed me, lifted me up and taught me more than I’ll ever be able to
repay.”
Rev3 will honor Jessica’s request and allow this free entry to go to one our nation’s serviceman
or woman. We honor our military and feel humbled by Jessica’s words.
